Musical Shorts:
Short-form covers for TikTok/IG: a mix of indie, jazz, rnb, and more
Short-form Educational Content:
These are mostly short examples from my recent educational content: quick grooves and chord ideas I use to show students how music works in a practical, creative way. You don’t need to be advanced to study this kind of material; part of my job is breaking it down into steps that make sense and can help you feel comfortable building similar short ideas from scratch.
Impressionist piano compositions:
I’ve always loved the impressionist piano composers like Debussy and Satie. These are three short compositions I wrote in that style during the nights of an especially hot summer several years back:
Recent Beat-making Practice:
I like to challenge myself to make beats as fast as I can sometimes…here are some results:
Dreampop:
I love music production and like mixing my more experimental tendencies with some of my more pop focused sensibilities
Beethoven Sonata Pathétique
I don’t get the chance to dig into classical work too much these days, but every so often I like to brush one off, like this - probably my favorite Beethoven Sonata.
Jazz Standards: nardis & I don’t want to set the world on fire
I love improvising so much, and the breadth of styles jazz encompasses…these are two of my favorites I’ve been soloing around lately. They don’t really go together but juxtaposition is another favorite of mine ;)
Big rock bands:
I’ve cut a lot of my chops in rock settings; this song is part of an EP I put out with the band Bug Séance last year, available here. That’s me on the piano ;)
ambient sound experiments:
One thing I love about music and sound in general is the possibilities for storytelling…these were some sound collages and instrumentals from an old album
sci-fi soundtrack:
At some point I’d like to dig into a soundtrack for an indie sci-fi or outrun videogame or movie. Here’s a few demos I did in that style, more available here.
